The summer of 2008 was a good one for Iridesense...for the most part...
At the end of August 2008, the band played a great show at the Harry Chapin Theater at Eisenhower Park in support of our troops at the Playgroundz.net / USO "Long Island Rocks for Freedom" event. This was a dream gig for Tara & Rick, because growing up in nearby Merrick, they used to frequent the park’s grounds and always wanted to play this historic stage. The band played with fill in musician extraordinaire, Sean Llewellyn on bass, because Tara had broken her elbow in a tragic bike accident in early August. She is healing nicely, but will require a few weeks of physical therapy to get back in playing shape.
The band was featured on the cover of the Aural Fix July 2008 issue, which was widely distributed at the second annual Great South Bay Music Festival held at Shorefront Park in the highly artistic town of Patchogue.
In June 2008, the new CD entitled, "A Trip Called Life" is officially released!!! The record, on the Paradiddle Records label, contains songs that the band had been in the studio recording for the past several months. The band submitted this new batch of songs again to Nickelodeon, who licensed the music to appear in upcoming episodes of iCarly and Drake & Josh.
The band also set up a rehearsal room at Rick’s Ronkonkoma home, where they’ve been jamming & putting together pieces of new music written by the individual members.
In 2007, Iridesense was a semi finalist in the Shift 2 Nissan Battle of the Bands, their music can be heard on the Nickelodeon shows Zoe 101 (featuring Jaime Lynn Spears - sister to Britney) and Drake & Josh and was featured on a roster of MTV shows such as Pimp My Ride, Room Raiders, NEXT and more! They also recently signed licensing deals with the Pump Audio and Song and Film agencies, and will be hitting the small and big screen much more in 2007.
The year 2006 was a busy one for the band with regular dates in NYC, and all over Long Island including their monthly songwriter series at The Conklin Barn and headlining shows at the outdoor Chapin Rainbow Theatre in Huntington, Long Island. They also played a performance for the nationwide Verizon FiOS Festival (which had a corresponding web video contest online for the song "Gasoline"). The band was a featured performer for Fleet Week at Central Park Summerstage in NYC, and their most recent history has brought them several TV and radio appearances in support of their Summer-Fall (2006) east coast tour including a taping of an episode of the MTV show "Boiling Points." They were also chosen as a sponsored band by Sam Ash Music Stores.
In 2004-2005, they played for 13,000 sports fans as between period entertainment at a New York Islanders NHL game, then played a sold out engagement with Something Corporate and another with Gin Blossoms. They were also semi finalists (top 20 out of 1000’s of entries nationwide) in the National "Be A Radio Star" Competition where they received airplay in rotation at Z100 radio in NY in addition to a nationally broadcast radio interview with Elvis Duran from the Z Morning Zoo and actress Amanda Bynes. They were prominently displayed on Newsday.com’s Impulse nightlife section as the subject of a skit with the comedy series The Slack Pack, and finished a LIVE DVD EPK concert video at Streamring Networks of their soon to be hit song "Gasoline."
2003 saw the release of "Iridesense" on LLJ Records, which was preceded by the 1997 release "Cool Dream Tomorrow" on Rock Diva records.
